10-unit Springfield Lofts offering open houses

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Prospective buyers can get a glimpse of the 10-unit Springfield Lofts, going into a former Wayne State University building at 672 W. Alexandrine, at open houses held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and, starting Feb. 2, Thursdays, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The project will transform the old building into finished loft units with large windows and tall ceilings. Each unit is about 2,600 square feet, among the largest in Midtown, and has a two-car garage and deck. All units are three stories with two bedrooms and 2 ½ baths and a walkout basement with 10-foot ceilings. Living rooms are located on the second floor to offer better views, with bedrooms on the first floor.

Construction got under way in August, says developer Bob Slattery of Midtown Development Group Inc., and the project is nearing completion. The first four units will be delivered to their owners in about two weeks. The next three models will be finished within the next two months, and the remaining three will remain partially unfinished giving buyers the option to pick out their own materials.

Slattery has purchased vacant land to the north and west of the Springfield Lofts and has future plans for those sites, hoping to cluster his developments and add to the density in the area.
