Ambient soundscaper Benoît Pioulard plays lounge at Magic Stick

Magic Stick

March 31, 8 p.m.

We remember Benoît Pioulard when he was known as Tom Meluch, and working with and hanging out with the Ghostly International crew in the mid-oughts. He was a promising electronic musician back then, releasing his stuff on Kranky and the UK-based Type label, among others.

Seven years later he’s fulfilled that promise and still in the early stages of what looks to be a long career. In addition to his recorded releases, Pioulard has done soundtrack work for Detroit filmmakers like Oren Goldenberg.

He’s performing live this Sunday, March 31, at Magic Stick Lounge, 8 p.m. It is $8 advance and $10 at the door. All ages welcome.
