Noel Night, Shop Detroit set for this weekend

Two annual events will help Detroiters get in the spirit of the season Saturday, Dec. 3: Shop Detroit and Noel Night.

Find unique holiday gifts and support more than 50 local businesses by participating in Detroit Synergy’s Shop Detroit event. Participants will receive coupons and a map of participating stores, with the option of tackling the event on foot or riding the People Mover. Shopping starts in the Compuware Atrium at 11 a.m., with parking available in the Compuware visitors’ parking deck. For more information visit www.detroitsynergy.org.

Also on Saturday, the 33rd annual Noel Night takes place in Midtown from 5 to 9:30 p.m. About two dozen museums and cultural institutions — from the Detroit Institute of Arts to the Science Center — will be open with free admission. The event, hosted by the University Cultural Center Association, also offers horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers, music, dance, children’s activities, arts and crafts, shopping and yuletide treats. Most of the attractions are located between Kirby and Forrest and between Cass and John R. Woodward will be closed between Farnsworth and Ferry.
