7-unit Hamtramck townhouse development set for final approval

A seven-unit townhouse development on Mitchell Street has received preliminary site plan approval from the Hamtramck city planning commission and is scheduled to present to the board on Feb. 14 for its final approval.

Hamtramck’s community and economic development director, Erik Tungate, expects the project to get the go-ahead. He says, “It appears to me that the final site plan meets all the requirements of what the plan commission requested.”

The developer, Platinum Building and Development LLC, has planned for the 3-story townhouses to have alley-accessed garages with optional roof-top decks, which Tungate characterizes as “very urban-style.” The 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom condos will sell for $175,000-$215,000 each.

Tungate hopes construction will begin in March.
