United Way taking online donations to meet $10,000 matching grant

United Way Southeastern Michigan is taking donations online at http://www.onewaytohelp.org. The group is trying to raise funds to earn a $10,000 matching grant as its Torch Drive fundraising campaign wraps up for 2006.

Spokesperson Megan Bracket says the organization will continue taking donations after the Nov. 15 deadline, "and they will be matched assuming we haven't hit that $10,000 mark yet."

Also, with your donation of $10 or more, United Way will send you the Together, We Matter! wristband.

Your contribution is used to tackle some of the most pressing issues the region faces. Whether it’s teaching a child to read, providing food for a family, helping individuals and families be self-sufficient, or convening volunteers and community partners to address issues such as joblessness, access to services or education readiness.
