Progress made on the Cobo expansion front

Governor Jennifer Granholm, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Macomb County Board of Commissioners Chairman William Crouchman and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson met last week to discuss plans for an expansion of Cobo Hall. Attendees describe the meeting as positive towards moving towards consensus on funding and governance.

Of Friday’s session, Ficano said:

“I must honestly say it was the most positive meeting I’ve had in the year-and-a-half to two years we’ve been working on this.

“There is a real sense of getting this done. We have a basic model in this proposal, now we need to do the fitting and changing to get to consensus,” Ficano said.
