Detroit needs quick action

Tom Walsh fromThe Detroit Free Press reports that “people are willing to live and shop and play in downtown Detroit, too, once they see things like green space, good lighting, well-maintained buildings and visible and friendly security.”

To achieve results, Tom Walsh thinks that the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) must act fast.  Walsh writes, “Philadelphia, Denver, Atlanta and Houston have had downtown revivals led by public-private partnerships upon which the new DDP is modeled. One thing they had in common: leaders with passion and a sense of urgency.”
