Banking on the inner city

ShoreBank’s planned expansion could thrive by focusing on inner-city areas largely avoided by other financial institutions, has raised $20 million through the private placement of shares to help pay for the planned purchase.

“ShoreBank hopes to increase its asset base and add muscle to its loan department by either buying a small community bank in Southeast Michigan or buying several Detroit branches from larger banks,” reports Crain’s Detroit.
