New police district center opens in Southwest Detroit

The new Southwest Public Safety Center opened Oct. 28 in Southwest Detroit.

The new center replaces 2 precincts and will house one of the six new police districts that are part of Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings’ restructuring plan.

The facility includes personnel from the former 2nd and 3rd precincts, a fire engine company, a park and service center and a community center.

Officers start moving into the new building after Angel’s Night and should be finished by Nov. 9.
