Festival for funds: Whitdel programs get boost from party at CAID
Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit
Nov. 13, 5:30 p.m. – 4 a.m.
The Whitdel Arts Center is the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit’s “second location” in Southwest Detroit.
It includes the Ladybug Studios with ceramic and fine art education studios, a student gallery, and a media lab.
This art exhibition and party at CAID’s Woodbridge gallery and performance space will raise funds for Whitdel. Donated pieces will be available through a silent auction held 5:30-7 p.m.
Artists in the exhibit include Christian Jay Sienkiewicz, Elizabeth Wight, Clinton Snider, Jon Dones, Matt Hebert, Scott Northup, John Azoni, Michelle Kopka, Emily Pelton and Courtney Burgam.
Cover for this part of the event is $3 and includes admission to the music part of the evening that follows.
Music starts at 7:15 p.m. There is a $7 cover, which includes food donated by local restaurants. Music by Macrame Tiger, the Beekeepers, Duende!, Fur, the Questions, Electric Fire Babies and the High Strung. Then there will be an after party with local DJs.
