New downtown Wells Fargo branch aims to serve city residents

Wells Fargo has opened up a home mortgage branch in downtown at 525 E. Jefferson Ave.

The new storefront will employ a staff of home mortgage consultants to focus on establishing home mortgages for city residents.

The
office will offer a range of home financing options for area residents,
including products for low-income consumers and those with a
non-traditional credit history. It will also offer free homebuyer
education classes, designed to provide first-time homebuyers with the
knowledge to begin the process of financing their first home.

The
branch is part of a national, comprehensive plan to open more than 35
branches in ethnic minority neighborhoods this year. Wells Fargo opened
45 similar branches last year.

The branch occupies a storefront that once housed a Speedy Printing shop, which moved next door.
