Model D TV: Walk the Walk
The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s spectacular RiverWalk is up and running. Come along with Model D TV on a tour of downtown’s most anticipated new addition in decades.
It is one of the most exciting and important projects realized in downtown Detroit in decades. Earlier this month the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy opened Rivard Plaza, at the foot of Rivard Street and the river, along with a plaza at Gabriel Richard Park, just east of the Belle Isle Bridge. More than one mile of the new RiverWalk, stretching east from Stroh’s River Place all the way to Mt. Elliott Park, also opened.
These segments joined already completed portions of RiverWalk at the Civic Center Promenade at Hart Plaza, GM Plaza and Promenade and the Tri-Centennial State Park Harbor. More than 75 percent of the East Riverfront is open and walkable.
A formal grand opening ceremony will be held Friday, June 22 at the beginning of Detroit International River Days.
