Sustainability a big topic at tri-county summit in Detroit

Going green and preventing foreclosures were the two hot topics at last week's tri-county summit, hosted by the city of Detroit.

Kathryn Underwood, a city planner with Detroit, proposed creating a regional partnership for sustainability with all three counties and the city of Detroit.

The partnership -- which would be modeled after others in areas such as Grand Rapids -- would establish a framework to deal with a wide range of environmental and economic challenges. And the partnership's proposed initial focus would be energy efficiency.
