PBS science program to shoot at Detroit Science Center

A new PBS science program focused on getting young people involved with science is coming to Detroit to film at the Detroit Science Center and Youthville Detroit. Check the article for details on auditioning.

The 30-minute investigative-based "Think Squad" will broadcast in May 2009 on PBS. Shooting is to begin early next year.

Auditions for the show will be held from noon to 5 p.m. today at Youthville. The show will also offer a Web site, DVDs and other materials for sale, Josh Dawson, the science center's manager of presentations and outreach, said.

Each episode will have the youths trying to solve a problem . In the first show, a man asks the Think Squad to determine if a rock that struck his house came from a meteor. Other episodes will center around myth busting and experiments, Dawson said.
