about the public and private investment made to downtown Detroit in
recent years.

The City of Detroit, a three-hour drive from Hamilton, was a city
you drove by to get to Interstate 75 and trek on to your favourite
Florida destination. I was once told by the American border personnel
to follow his instructions to get to the '75' or else risk entering
into a crime ridden neighbourhood of Detroit. Now after many
improvements to the city, Detroit has become a shining example of how
investment in public infrastructure can yield private investment and
breathe new life to a city that was known more for being the automobile
capital of the world.
