Canadian city looks to Detroit's revival for inspiration

Hamilton, Ontario, finds some inspiration from Detroit’s downtown revival.

Like Gore Park in our fair city, Campus Martius, is found at the main intersections of the city's downtown. The Square itself was dominated by automobile traffic and there was not much happening around it except a group of dilapidated and tired looking buildings. It was not a pretty site!

These changes, not minor in nature, have created a real people gathering spot. Since it opened in 2004, Campus Martius has also attracted more than $500 million worth of investment in the immediate area with new shops, boutiques and restaurants, residential lofts and office buildings.
