Detroit’s first certified Green Restaurant™ to open in downtown’s Guardian Building
Detroit’s only and Michigan’s second certified Green Restaurant™ will open this fall in the Guardian Building. Atoms Juice Bar will serve residents, visitors and folks working in downtown Detroit “a refreshing blend of organic smoothies, raw juices and salads”, says the owner, John Chetcuti.
What’s unique about this restaurant is that “everything will be eco-friendly,” says Chetcuti, and will follow the guidelines of the Green Restaurant Association. “All containers used will be made of biodegradable material that can compost, and any paper used will be made of recycled, unbleached materials,” he says. All cleaning agents used also will be eco-friendly products, and even the floor is to be made of a renewable resource — bamboo.
Atoms Juice Bar “will provide a healthy alternative to anyone who eats in downtown Detroit,” says Chetcuti, who is also opening Atoms Café around the same time as the Juice Bar. The Juice Bar is to be on the main level, while the Café will be a level higher.
