Model D Speaker Series about Riverfront with Bing and Slavik

The Model D Speaker series continues April 13 with special guests Dave Bing and Ron Slavik. The event starts at 8 a.m. and is at the Detroit Yacht Club on Belle Isle.

The series is co-sponsored by the DYC, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and LaSalle Bank.

The subject of the talk will include the redevelopment of the Riverfront and the significant investments being made.

Local businessman Bing is a former Detroit Piston all-star guard, and was voted one of the top 50 basketball players of all time. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1990.

Bing has emerged as a key player in Detroit’s turnaround. He is heading up the Mayor’s Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiative and is a partner in the $60 million WaterMark East Riverfront condominium development.

Slavik is co-founder and chairman of the Slavik Murray Real Estate Group, LLC, an international development firm, and Chairman of Fourmidable, one of Michigan’s largest property management firms.Over a 40-year span, he has become the city’s largest developer and property manager of multi-family and affordable housing.

Slavik serves as executive board member of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, a consortium of business and civic leaders overseeing the development of the Detroit RiverWalk.
