Sailing in Detroit

East Detroit's flock of junior sailors and their parents are carrying the torch for the city's historic river recreation legacy. Bayview Yacht Club—host of the international annual Detroit to Macinack Island sailing race set for July 23--celebrates its 90 th birthday this year, while the Detroit Yacht Club across the river on Belle Isle checks in at a grand ol' 137 years old and the nearby Detroit Rowing Club traces its roots back some 175 years.
