Thompson, Skillman foundations to team up on charter high schools in Detroit

Thompson and Skillman Foundations recently formalized their partnership to spend $200 million on building charter high schools in Detroit.  The first urban charter high school could open as early as 2006.

Bayview Yacht Club—host of the international annual Detroit to Macinack Island sailing race set for July 23--celebrates its 90 th birthday this year, while the Detroit Yacht Club across the river on Belle Isle checks in at a grand ol' 137 years old and the nearby Detroit Rowing Club traces its roots back some 175 years.
