Detroit comes together in Midtown for Hamtramck’s Jim Shaw

Jim Shaw, a fixture in the Detroit music scene, was diagnosed with
cancer earlier this year. A fundraiser organized by friends of Shaw was
a wild success.

Midtown Detroit was rocking hard and showing love for Hamtramck’s Jim
Shaw last Saturday night. Shaw, a fixture in the Detroit rock scene,
was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Organizers didn’t estimate
how many people showed up for the fundraising event for Shaw, a
longtime resident and City Plan Commission member, but the numbers
likely reached over 1,000.

The Magic Stick at the Majestic Theater Center hosted some of the
city’s best bands while the C-Pop gallery next door was packed with
people bidding on donated art at a silent auction.
