Historic Ferry Street to get 48 custom-built brownstones

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Custom-home builder Joel Lerman and developer Julio Bateau have teamed up to build luxury brownstones reminiscent of “old style” Detroit with modern updates. Located on the corner of Ferry and Beaubien, Centurion Place will “provide an upbeat urban environment, with luxury living that has the elements already found in this area’s neighborhoods and older homes,” says Lerman.

Work began at the end of December on 10 brownstones, including two carriage residences on the courtyard. Units are being constructed with no inside bearing walls, allowing purchasers to tailor finishes and room configurations to their needs.

The brownstones will be between 1,500 and 2,000 square feet, with two bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a two-car garage, although there is room for modifications. Units will range from $330,000 to $380,000.

Centurion Place’s architect, Alexander V. Bogaerts & Associates, designed the exteriors to blend with Ferry Street’s existing brownstones, with Tudor elements, subtle variations in brick tone, wood doors, tall, double-hung windows, and authentic artisan iron work for railing and decorative treatments.

A model is expected to be finished in February. A second phase with 38 units will start immediately after the sale of the first 10.
