Super Bowl committee offers advice to upstart businesses

About 200 entrepreneurs received advice on expanding their companies and tapping into Detroit’s business opportunities during a half-day seminar Thursday morning at the Northwest Activities Center in Detroit.

Excerpts from the article:

The seminar, titled “How to Elevate Your Business Game,” was presented by the Super Bowl XL Host Committee and the Detroit Office of Targeted Business Development.

Topics such as locating businesses downtown and guaranteed small-business loans were addressed by panelists such as Mary Grace Wilbert, principal account manager with the Detroit Economic Growth Corp., and Constance Logan, public-information officer for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Detroit.

The host committee has an “Emerging Business” program that provides training and networking events that help registered minority- and women-owned businesses compete for contracts with the host committee, the National Football League, corporate sponsors and special-event coordinators.
