calling for the demolition of Ford Auditorium, the addition of
landscaping and the construction of an outdoor amphitheater. Officials
estimate the cost to be $35-50 million and are exploring funding
options.

“If it’s the same plans I saw a few months
ago, I liked it. It was thick with enhancements,” said Jason Huvaere,
owner of Paxahau, which promotes Movement: Detroit’s Electronic Music
Festival. “It would help our festival or anything else held there.

“Half
the property down there is not being used. The Ford Auditorium is a
coffin. Without that there you could add a few thousand more people.”
