Chattanooga nonprofit takes a shine to Corktown

The Chattanoogans call it a “civic intervention.” We say you just always find Detroit-lovers in the darndest places!

Chattanooga, TN’s CreateHere, a nonprofit focusing on urban innovation, sent 40 volunteers and staffers up to Corktown’s Roosevelt Park for a day of creative brainstorming on ways to make the vacant land in front of the Michigan Central Station a portal to the neighborhood.

Excerpt:

They made plans for building the park’s brand and installing art
pieces. They brainstormed about finding funds and talked with architects
already working on a “master plan” that would include an amphitheater
with the abandoned train station as a dramatic backdrop. “I can’t believe people from Chattanooga came up here to help with this,” one Detroiter said.
