Time to push Detroit’s rebuilding further

Major rebuilding and development projects have been put on hold for a
good part of this new year. Now, with the mayoral fiasco behind
Detroit, it’s time for the redeveloping, rebuilding, and restarting of
the city to commence.

Major rebuilding and development projects have been put on hold for a good part of this new year. Now, with the mayoral fiasco behind Detroit, it’s time for the redeveloping, rebuilding, and restarting of the city to commence.

“It’s time to move forward and refocus the business community, the
city leaders, the residents of Detroit and our entire region on working
together towards building the kind of Detroit that we all know can and
will be accomplished,” said Gilbert, who, like most other business
leaders, remained silent as the Kilpatrick scandal played out.

David
Brandon, chief executive of Domino’s Pizza and chairman of the
corporate leadership group Detroit Renaissance, also urged the region
to move forward.

“The new rule in Detroit should be, ‘Don’t talk
the past — create the future.’ Detroit now needs political leaders who
list integrity as the No. 1 item on their job description.”
