Photographer and Detroit-native Bree Gant captured some of the people and places that make Live6 unique.
Model D's "On the Ground" series gives voice to the residents, business owners, and other community members who make up Detroit's neighborhoods. The Live6 area is composed of four distinct neighborhoods—Bagley, Martin Park, The University District, and Fitzgerald. These communities are home to The University of Detroit Mercy and Marygrove College, as well as a number of beautiful residences and longstanding businesses.

On October 15, lovers and those expressing affection across the Midwest celebrated Sweetest Day. On the Ground editor Terryn Hall checked out Live6 businesses to see how owners and patrons were marking the day.
The Live6 Alliance hosted a meeting on Oct. 12, bringing together longtime residents, business owners, and property owners along the 6 Mile and Livernois corridor to discuss the future of their neighborhoods.
Once completed, executive director Lauren Hood hopes the headquarters will serve as a local gathering place where people can connect, deepen ties, and share ideas.
In 2013 Model D launched its first On the Ground series in Osborn. As Model D launches a new series in the Live6 neighborhood, we wanted to check in on some of the stories and people we covered.
Our next "On the Ground" series will take place in the Live6 neighborhood and we're excited to introduce the series' editor, Terryn Hall.
