A new bar — the Pit Stop — has hit downtown. It occupies the ground floor of the Broderick Tower and was open for preview during the recent Tigers’ homestand. It will have its actual opening on June 8. The owners are using the next two weeks to complete work on the space.

Co-owner Gideon Pfeffer says the Pit Stop is intended to be a “fun sports bar.” Citing its Grand Circus Park frontage and proximity to Comerica Park, Pfeffer says, “Obviously, the location is terrific.” He and co-owners Jon Grabowski, Jay Lambrecht and Mark Geront are “happy to get a viable business into that location.”

The décor is simple, with a jukebox and flat-screen TVs. Pfeffer says the Pit Stop’s focus is on cheap drinks, with $2 beers at all times.

Food will be served from lunch through closing time daily.
