As Detroit caught its breath and gave itself a pat on the back for a well-executed Super Bowl, the region’s leaders pledged Monday to maintain the momentum in the city’s comeback story.

“To maintain the momentum, we need cooperation,” said Roger Penske, chairman of the city’s Super Bowl host committee. The racing legend and billionaire businessman, who spoke at a news conference Monday with officials from the city, the NFL and the Detroit Lions, vowed to continue his involvement in the city.

Both Penske and Kilpatrick called for the continuation of the public-private partnerships involved in Super Bowl planning.
