Detroit gets ready to tackle next project

Now that the Super Bowl has come and gone, Detroit is ready for move forward with several plans for the riverfront.

Here are some projects planed:

RIVERWALK: Currently under construction, the first portion of this pedestrian path will span 3 1/2 miles. Ultimately, the aim is to have more than 5 miles for walking, bicycling and roller skating extending on both sides of the Renaissance Center.

UNIROYAL SITE: Retiring Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis is a partner in a company that plans to build housing on the former site of the Uniroyal tire plant.

CITY-OWNED LAND: Announcement expected within weeks for plans for mixed-use development on more than 100 acres owned by the city.

GM LAND: General Motors Corp. announced the selection of a developer for a commercial and residential project just east of the Renaissance Center.
