Model D TV: Family Hootenanty
Choosy parents choose the Family Hootenany — a recurring event that brings cool kids, cool parents and cool music together. It’s a kid fest that actually does not make your ears bleed. Model D TV visits a recent Hoot at the MOCAD.
A Family Hootenany is for the kids, yes, but it’s also for parents who want to mingle in an environment decidedly more cool than an Imagination Movers concert. (For those out of the loop, Imagination Movers are like the American Wiggles, more or less.)
With a mix of both kid-targeted musicians and hip grown-up acts playing for kids, the regular events are have become both a musical and social event for Detroit parents, too. The whole shebang is choreographed by April Jones Boyle (wife of Model D publisher Brian Boyle).
Model D TV video director/producer Tom Hendrickson checked out a recent Hoot at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit in Midtown. Future Hoots include stops at the DIY Fest in September and a Safari-themed Hoot at the Magic Stick in October. Look for more details at www.thefamilyhoot.com.
