A sit-down Middle Eastern restaurant is headed to Monroe St. just east of Campus Martius. Cafe Kabob Mediterranean Grille, slated to open early this summer in the space next to Orchid Thai, will offer seating for 80, carryout and catering. The space is 2,400 square feet.

Owner Ouse Gulli’s first restaurant venture was Mr. Kabob carryout located inside a Sunoco gas station in Berkley, and he opened his first Cafe Kabob in Southfield in 2008. He picked Downtown for his third venture because of the “dense daytime population,” he says.

Hours for Cafe Kabob will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, with later hours during festivals and events. The address is 119 Monroe St.
