VIDEO: Jefferson Chalmers stakeholders speak on history and revitalization
Residents and stakeholders of Jefferson Chalmers share insights on the past and future of their neighborhood.
After months of embedded journalism in the historic community of Jefferson Chalmers, Model D Media and Detroit filmmaker Aaron Barton have created a video that reflects on the time we’ve spent in the area. Using candid interviews, drone footage, and private photos, Barton has created a beautiful visual tribute to the neighborhood.
Here you can watch interviews with Tammy Black of the Community Treehouse project, historian Nick Sinacori, and Deric Scott of East Jefferson Development Corporation, as they recount their experiences in Jefferson Chalmers and express their hopes for the future.
The video will be shared with residents at Hope Community Church 14456 E. Jefferson Ave., on Friday, April 19th from 6-8 p.m. for a storytelling event featuring residents from Jefferson Chalmers, one of Detroit’s most historic neighborhoods.
