Hotter than July? You bet. Marvin Shaouni was there, camera blazing

This annual event held at Palmer Park includes an LGBT pride march, picnic, fashion, music, dancing, food, drink and all sorts of fun under the sun and moon. We were there to witness and document the friendly vibe.

Model D photographer Marvin Shaouni
spent eight hours on one of the steamiest days on record getting shot
after shot of people attending Hotter Than July, a celebration of
Detroit’s LGBT community of color that takes place each year at Palmer
Park.

After watching the grills fire up with food, and models
“vogueing” it up before a scorching dance-off emceed by Innocence Rodeo
Milliown, he came back with hundreds of pictures and memories of what he
called “the most welcoming group of people” he’s met in a long time. How cool is that? Enjoy the show.
