New owners have meant new life for Guardian Building

The Sterling Group has made the Guardian Building downtown its flagship
property, and raised occupancy in less than three years from 6 percent
to 50 percent.

According to the story:

In 2003, Sterling Group acquired the colorful, cathedral-like Guardian
Building at 500 Griswold in downtown Detroit after MichCon moved out to
merge with DTE Energy.

The new owners started with an occupancy rate of 6 percent. Less than
three years later, occupancy has risen to 50 percent in the
500,000-square-foot office building. LaSalle Bank and 10 stores are in
the breathtaking promenade and lobby.
