Detroit's Eastern Market neighborhood is located directly north of Gratiot Avenue and east of I-75. It is about a mile southeast of Wayne State University and the Cultural Center and within walking distance of Ford Field and Comerica Park. Everything from farm fresh produce, meat products, herbs and spices, coffee and tea, nuts, candies and a variety of condiments are all supplied by the retailers and wholesalers spread over the market's 43-acre area. They are open six days a week, and closed on Sundays. It is estimated that on any particular Saturday, approximately 45,000 people turn out to shop at the open air market. The neighborhood is also home to restaurants and bars and has a growing residential community. Here's our guide to visiting Eastern Market. Interested in living there? Click here.
