Celebrated songwriter Van Dyke Parks is the man behind the curtain of some of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys most innovative albums, Smile and Pet Sounds. 

But Parks has also produced, arranged, or played on albums by Tim Buckley, U2, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, The Byrds, Cher, Rufus Wainwright, Sam Phillips, Ringo Starr, Frank Black, The Manhattan Transfer, Keith Moon, Carly Simon, T-Bone Burnett and others.

He’s at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (4454 Woodward Ave., Midtown) this Saturday, April 7, 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.
