Urban Sandwich restaurant to open in August downtown
A new restaurant is scheduled to open in downtown Detroit in August. Urban Sandwich will be serving the office lunch crowd 35 different sandwiches in a newly renovated space near Campus Martius and the Compuware Building.
Located at 1260 Library Street in the space formerly occupied by Café Detroit, Urban Sandwich will have lots of room for customers to dine-in: the restaurant occupies 4,500 square feet. It is currently under construction.
Urban Sandwich will be open from 7 a.m. to 4p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Look for a diverse sandwich menu featuring international specialties such as French open-faced sandwiches as well as American favorites.
Owner Karen Jasmine says this is her first sandwich shop, and that she’s happy to be starting a business in Detroit. “We’re proud to be an African-American owned business, serving all types of crowds,” says Jasmine.
