Normally, a company making Fortune magazine's
Inner City 100 list is a sign of a company on the rise. In Powerlink Facilities Management Services' case, it's evidence of it shooting to the top.
The New Center-based business has doubled its revenue over the last year, a move that has allowed it to hire 250 people. The company recently took on some big clients and expects to keep growth this year, hiring another 20-25 people.
"We're being recognized as a fast-track growth company," says Link Howard, CEO of
Powerlink Facilities Management Services. "We're also being recognized that we're doing all of the things necessary to be a company that can compete at a high level."
got its start nine years ago as a staffing firm. It has since grown to providing facilities management and maintenance services. It recently took on Detroit Public Schools as a client, a move that allowed it to grow quickly.
"I have always modeled us on world-class companies," Howard says. "We have built our infrastructure on the best of the industry."
