Double is an important word as of late for downtown Detroit-based OpTech. The IT firm has nearly doubled in size twice recently, allowing it to significantly grow its Metro Detroit workforce.
OpTech employs about 150 people, including 120 in southeast Michigan. It's headquarters in the Guardian Building has a staff of 15 people with another 35 or so spread throughout the city at client locations, like Comerica Bank, DTE Energy and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
"We have more than doubled in size since 2011," says Scott Goodwin, COO of
OpTech. "Last year was pretty huge too because we almost doubled in size then."
OpTech works to improve productivity through improving software processes and making other tech aspects more efficient. The company, which also has offices in Washington, D.C., and Hawaii, expects to continue hiring in Metro Detroit and Michigan as it works to expand its client base and the amount of work it receives from existing clients.
"We are a Michigan-based company," Goodwin says. "We don't outsource. We use talent from here in Michigan."
