Metro-West Appraisal moves downtown with 40 jobs

Meet Metro-West Appraisal. The latest business to make the move to downtown Detroit. This one is bringing 40 people with it.

The residential real-estate appraisal company is taking up 8,000 square feet in the Chrysler House, formerly the Dime Building, where it will move about 21 percent of its 186 employees. The people moving downtown are primarily part of the corporate management team of the 25-year-old firm.

Metro-West Appraisal provides appraisals and other valuation products in 24 states within 35 major metropolitan markets. It currently has 15 job openings for recruiters and certified appraisers. It has hired about 36 people over the last year.

"We plan to hire about 35 people over the course of the year," says Brandon Boudreau, COO of Metro-West Appraisal.

Boudreau says the move downtown is in part to be close to Quicken Loans. Another part is to accommodate its young workforce that wants to be a part of the energy in downtown.

"We're all proud of Detroit and tell everyone we're from Detroit," Boudreau says.
