Sometime the missing piece of the puzzle for making a start-up successful is location. That's what Genome Dynamics International is discovering after moving to TechTown over the last few years.
"The company has soared in the last year and a half since we made the transition to
TechTown and Wayne State University," says Martin H Bluth, co-founder of
Genome Dynamics International.
Genome Dynamics International is a biomarker discovery company that discovers and develops new blood tests to help diagnose and monitor treatment for disease. It focuses on diseases that are difficult to diagnose, such as overactive bladder. Genome Dynamics International's technology is inexpensive and minimally invasive diagnostic by simple routine blood testing.
"Most diagnostics are generally going to take tissue out of the body, like the diseased tissue," Bluth says.
The 4-year-old company recently expanded its staff to five people after hiring one person earlier this year. The company is currently fund-raising, trying to lock down an initial round of funding between $500,000 and $2 million this year.
Genome Dynamics International recently won one of Corp! Magazine's 2012 DiSciTech awards ceremony, which honors companies leading the way in science and technology through innovation, research and applied science.
