Ann Arbor tech firm Dynamic Edge partners with Detroit Institute of Technology

Bruce McCully runs Ann Arbor-based Dynamic Edge but is quite active in the city of Detroit, taking local leadership classes and turning that experience into an inspiration to start a technology club at a local high school.

Dynamic Edge
employees spend a few hours every Wednesday at the Detroit Institute of Technology, one of four schools from Detroit Public School's inside the former Cody High School on the city's west side. The tech start-up's employees teach the students how to use cutting edge technology and how to make it work for them, such as applying for job or colleges.

"Most kids have computers at home but don't know how to maintain them," says McCully, CEO of Dynamic Edge. "We teach them how to do it."

McCully is one of a growing number of Detroit advocates in Ann Arbor. He participated in Leadership Detroit last fall, which inspired this project. He also makes sure to have his company's employees, 28 people and the occasional intern, become more involved in the city.

"One of the things we in Ann Arbor miss is that we are very dependent on Detroit and its success," McCully says. "We do a lot of volunteering and spend a lot of time in Detroit."
