DTE Energy plans to move 300 jobs downtown

DTE Energy is expanding its downtown workforce, moving 300 employees from its Southfield call center to its central business district campus.

The workers will occupy two floors of the Walker Cisler Building, the largest building on the campus. The downtown-based utility is making the move to create more efficiencies in its operations.

"When people from other parts of the company need to know about customer service, they will be right there," says Scott Simons, a spokesman for DTE Energy. "It will provide some efficiencies and move more employees downtown."

The move is set to take place in September. DTE Energy employs 10,000 people, including 3,000 in downtown Detroit. The rest are based in power plants and work crews throughout the state.
