Fans of
Curbed NY will be able to make the popular blogs musing about real-estate, development and design local with the recently launched Curbed Detroit.
The New York City-based company recently kicked off the Detroitist version of its blog. Curbed Detroit plans to provide 6-8 posts per day, Monday-Friday on what's going on in region's real estate development scene. It will mainly focus on the city of Detroit.
"It creates a sort of endless real estate fantasy," says Sarah F. Cox, editor of
Curbed Detroit. "It's about real estate, neighborhoods and development in Detroit all at the same time."
Cox -- also a Model D contributor and author of the series
Imported to Detroit -- is based in Hamtramck and got started with Curbed.com by reading it all the time while working through a boring internship. The first posts touch on a number of hot-button issues in the city, such as the coming Whole Foods Market in Midtown and development in the greater downtown area. It also focuses on little things on the neighborhoods, such as the new Tashmoo Biergarten pop-up project in West Village and how the City Cab building in Corktown is on the chopping block for this month's
Wayne County Tax Foreclosure Auction.
"It's the little things that catch your attention in neighborhoods," Cox says.
