Regional leaders to meet to discuss transportation issues
Local government officials are holding a workshop Jan. 18 in Detroit for area leaders to discuss regional transit issues, including how to design projects to fit in with their communities.
Members of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG), along with the Oakland Country Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation, are teaming up to educate local government representatives, road and transit agencies, community and economic development officials and consultants.
The workshop will educate regional and community leaders on the effects transportation actions have on the human environment; how transportation projects help sustain community values without significantly compromising safety and system performance; and how public involvement can be used to shape a transportation project to reflect community values.
