The first major public event for Marygrove Conservancy in two years will run from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on August 13, featuring local live entertainment, campus tours, and free food for the first 500 guests.

A UK-based international music events group is hosting three small, private concerts this summer in unique spaces in the North End, North Rosedale Park, and Corktown neighborhoods.
“These small improvements add up to a significant increase in quality of life throughout the city,” says Sigal Hemy, DPC’s executive director.
“People don't think about it all the time — and especially if it's so accessible in their own community — but having a playground is so needed,” says Daniel A. Washington, founder and executive director of NW Goldberg Cares. Their new pocket park provides just that.
The outdoor summer series of the newly rebranded Detroit Puppet Company is underway, with a free family-friendly lineup running until late September. The series showcases new works by Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, Flying Cardboard Theater, and the larger-than-life puppets by Vermont-based Bread and Puppet Theater.
“We're trying to create more community through our spaces, whether that's in our facilities themselves or outside of them, and we just want to use whatever properties we have in support of that,” says Tom Habitz, urban planning specialist for Henry Ford Health.
These once-neglected Detroit parks are getting a new lease on life — and some neighboring amenities — through a collaboration between local nonprofits and community members.
“Downtown Detroit is celebrated locally and nationally for having so many wonderful and active parks and venues,” says David Cowan, chief public spaces officer for the Downtown Detroit Partnership.
