We couldn’t say it any better than Mike Trombley, who helped launch Macho City and Happy Endings (whose DJs rocked Model D’s Next Big Thing event in October): “If Detroit’s partygoers could pose any real questions about the state of their beloved underground, what would they be? Does dance music keep any dignity when it’s been built-to-order, spit-shined and pumped to within an inch of its life? Can it flex some real musical muscle?”
Good questions, Mike. And his answer? Well, this: he’s become a specialist in playing long overlooked and forgotten dance music, fusing Detroit’s own well-hung disco endowment with Italo classics and Hi-NRG rarities.

Check out his new monthly party, MENERGY, at Midtown’s Temple Bar. C’mon, everybody dance: black, white, brown, yellow; gay, straight or from outer space. All are welcome.
As long as you are at least 21 and have $1 (yes, that’s one bill) to cover the door, you’re in. Trombley welcomes special guests each month.
Temple Bar is at 2906 Cass Ave., in the shadow of the hulking Masonic Temple.
