Flying Dutchman: Bass music star Martyn spins at Oslo

Oslo

Dec. 17, 10 p.m.

What, never heard of Martyn Deykers, the native of the Netherlands who moved to suburban Washington D.C. for love not money a few years ago, and has navigated a soulful-funky-highly-danceable path through the post-dubstep landscape?

You should know all about him, via releases on his own 3024 label, Hyperdub, Fabric and an appearance at last year’s Movement festival (he tore it up on the Red Bull Academy stage). Read about Martyn in a 2009 piece by Walter Wasacz in XLR8R here.

See him perform this Friday, Dec. 17, at Oslo, 1456 Woodward Avenue, downtown Detroit.

The party is promoted by Proper|Modulation and Random Reason and also features Keith Kemp, plus Aran Daniels vs. Mr Joshooa.

Good times, for 18 and over that is, begin at 10 p.m.
