British designer puts Detroit spin on classic shoe
British designer Paul Smith updates the penny loafer “Detroit” style.
Excerpts from the story:
Smith has put a brilliant twist on the stodgy old standby. The Detroit Loafer is a penny loafer with an attitude.
Smith added a distinct taper to the front of the shoe and given the little tab where the penny usually goes a facelift with a striking striped pattern. He’s also given the sole of the shoe the same striped print surrounding an etched map pattern.
The Detroit Loafer is available from the Paul Smith online store for about $300.
